Smart Cities trans-regional workshop
The workshop provides a unique opportunity for detailed discussion and exchange of experiences and best practices including Smart Cities systems and resilience, open data and public eservices their role in economic growth and well being of the population, digitization and ICT driven regional development, smart specialization. (transport and logistics, E-government, safety and security, Health, Resilience, Critical Infrastructure, Environment, Tourism and other domains), The workshop could include session focused on brainstorming and rapid prototyping dealing with concrete regional development plans involving participation of relevant industry, SME, universities, innovation centers and Living Labs. The workshop will provide opportunity to start discussion on establishing academia industry authorities partnership and new projects. The short list of workshop topics will defined according to the interests of participating cities and regions. The Interreg Europe project “Smart Cities and Regions Public Policy Lab”(link) consortia meeting will be organized as ad hoc session during the workshop.
Cities and regions - new knowledge, inter regional cooperation opportunities that explore complementarities among regional expertise and diversities of business ecosystems, consolidation of regional efforts, new opportunities in development partnership and cooperation with academia, industry and SMEs, contribution to regional development programs Industry and SMEs - opportunities to introduce Smart Cities systems and services to regional authorities, new opportunities for developing partnerships with Academia and public organizations Academia and research organizations - opportunity to apply research knowledge and the knowledge and links with regional development programmes and ecosystems
To provide platform for exchange of experiences and best practices among the participating regions eservices development, Open Data and ICT driven regional development and innovation
To identify the regional interests and priorities for inter-regional cooperation and partnerships on ICT driven regional development and innovation including eservices and Open Data.
To identify the complementarities of regional challenges and competences, ecosystems and their players and to involve them in dialog on cooperation for establishing inter regional cooperation network, partnership, Federated Knowledge Center and Living Lab for Resilient and Sustainable Smart Cities.
To start the first set of brainstorming and rapid prototyping sessions addressed regional development challenges, digitization, eservices, Open data and shared applications. The workshop sessions will be followed up by 1/2 year rapid (could be virtual) prototyping (contributing to the SSCI federated virtual Living Lab)
To establish ICT, eservices and Open Data driven regional development and inter regional cooperation network, partnership, Federated Trans regional Knowledge Center and Living Lab for Resilient and Sustainable Smart Cities.
Workshop brainstorming and rapid prototyping sessions:
The brainstorming and rapid prototyping workshopssessions will be focused on regional priorities and challenges of the participating regions (one from each region). The brainstorming workshops and the follow up rapid prototyping process will include the participation of key Academia experts, industry, citizens that will join forces and expertise to tackle complex multidisciplinary systematic topics/priorities of regional development which require broad multi-stakeholder inter regional/international cooperation and that might lead to the development of new clusters, ecosystems and partnerships.
What is expected to start brainstorming and rapid prototyping workshop session preparation ?
To prepare for the workshop thematic discussions on regional priorities the following information and commitments from interested participants are required:
The expression of interest and short a description of the regional priority and its challenges
The candidate person/organization to be workshop moderator (s) and the coordinator of the preparation process
The candidate leader/organization for the rapid prototyping and pilot implementation
The expertise of experts and organizations to be invited for the workshop preparation and the pilot implementation for rapid prototyping.
Short summary of potential funding opportunities (programs, projects, other sources) for rapid prototyping
